Blake Wiedenmeyer

Blake Wiedenmeyer is an Illustration student with a particular fondness for telling stories and developing characters through visual media. Blake grew up in Olathe, Kansas and from the very moment he could hold a crayon he was putting his mind to paper. Fueled by cartoons, comics, and video games, Blake would spend his time in and out of class creating artwork as a form of expression. After high school, he would move on to Johnson County Community College, where after three years he would acquire an associates degree in Graphic Design. While he found his time at Johnson County extremely valuable and rewarding, he didn’t feel entirely satisfied with his artistic learning journey. Blake would decide to continue on with school and sought out a degree in Illustration. He found the Kansas City Art Institute to be the right move, and in Fall of 2022 he would find himself starting his Junior year at the school. Blake feels as though he’s found a community of like-minded instructors and peers alike who push him and motivate him creatively. Currently he is in his senior year and is pursuing his narrative storytelling project, Grail, for his senior thesis. Someday Blake would like to pursue a career in character design or some sort of visual storytelling.
