Cooper Carter
Hailing from the far off land of Springfield Missouri and currently residing in the beautiful village of Kansas City Missouri, John Cooper Carter is an illustrator whose art has been lovingly referred to as a mixture of pop art and renaissance. With a love of the human form and fondness for D&D-esque fantastical settings, Cooper's work often shows moments of fantasy and human interaction, with bold design work and coloring to match.
Cooper’s linework and graphic elements stem from a young love and appreciation for vintage and modern comics, which shows its face in a typical use of varied lineweight, bold geometric shapes and patterns, and definition building mark-making. An ideal job for Cooper is one where their strong ideas can be put to full force, such as art directing, graphic design work, and freelance illustration.
Cooper’s plans for their thesis is to make an art book solely depicting art and stories constructed by the queer students of KCAI, as they believe that student’s voices and work is deserving of the highest opportunity to be shown. Having Cooper as a part of your business is having a person of compassionate reason, collaboration, hard work, and excitement for future endeavors.
