Chaneryna Thach

Chaneryna Thach is an illustrator from Springfield, Missouri. She is currently pursuing a BFA with a minor in Asian studies at the Kansas City Art Institute. Although Chaneryna creates digital illustrations, she has a love for many mediums such as oil pastels and colored pencils but her preferred medium will always be cut paper. Through paper, she tells her experience and the stories of her ancestors that will hopefully spark this sense of awe and wonder in the viewer. She has a passion for narrative illustrations. Her style is very story driven, colorful and personal. She enjoys sharing meals with her family and exploring Kansas city with her friends. Her works mainly feature her experiences as an Asian American as well as her culture. Her practice allows her to discover and question certain aspects of her culture and identity. Attempting to make sense of what it means to be a Cambodian and Vietnamese American. She is an artist aiming to learn more and educate others about her culture through art. Reminding the world of the beautiful and rich history Southeast Asia has to offer.
