Mimi Zarate-Bello

Nohemi “Mimi” Zarate-Bello Is a Mexican-American artist based between Des Moines, Iowa, and Kansas City, Missouri. Mimi is a multi-medium artist who enjoys working in both 2D and 3D. Mimi often uses a children’s book art style and a nature-based color palette to create a welcoming environment in their artwork. The things that keep Mimi going as an artist are their love for learning new mediums and the self-discovery journey that new artwork takes them on. Being able to help people feel less alone in their personal experiences as well as making new human connections and friendships is something that is very important to Mimi’s identity as an Illustrator and artist. Mimi’s love for frogs shines through their artwork and especially the online frog community they are part of. They love attending tabling events and returning to places that bring them nostalgia, whether it be their home in Iowa, their culture, nature, or their relationships and friendships.
