Ronan Brown

Ronan Brown, born and raised in Kansas City, wanted to be a professional ninja when he was in his youth. Instead, he ended up pursuing a degree in illustrating ninjas. Ronan spends much of his time drawing samurai, ninjas, cowboys, and video game characters. He has experience with digital mediums, primarily Adobe Photoshop, and traditional mediums, such as graphite, ink, watercolor, acrylic, and oil painting.

While concept design and children’s book Illustration are possible career avenues for him, he much prefers being in an environment where he can interact with other artists, especially the critique space. With action, storytelling, and especially humor being primary themes in his artwork, his biggest inspirations range from video games, comic books, and classic children’s animation, all the way to the fine arts of classical European painting and Japanese woodblock prints. These all have cultivated Ronan’s appreciation for narration and characterization. His fondness for the arts began at a young age and was set in stone during high school at Lincoln College Preparatory Academy, where he then moved on to the Kansas City Art Institute. He will graduate with his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in May 2024.
